Message from APRO Chairman
First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Responsible Care Indonesia for hosting us in this stunning venue here in Indonesia. Your efforts have provided the perfect backdrop for our collective mission to advance Responsible Care in the Asia-Pacific region. It is my great honor to welcome you to the 2025 Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference (APRCC). This event is not just a gathering-it is a call to action, an opportunity to unite our efforts and drive transformative change in the chemical industry across the Asia-Pacific region. The Asia Pacific Responsible Care Organization (APRO) stands as a beacon of collaboration and innovation, bringing together leaders who share a common commitment to health, safety, and environmental sustainability. As APRO Chairperson, I am deeply proud of the strides we have made, but I am equally aware of the challenges ahead.
Chemical products are indispensable to modern society, driving innovations that improve lives and progress. However, with this power comes responsibility—the responsibility to manage risks, protect our communities, and safeguard our planet. Responsible Care is not just a voluntary initiative-it is a promise to uphold the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. Today, global challenges such as climate change and resource depletion demand bold action. Initiatives like carbon neutrality and the circular economy are reshaping industries, and the chemical sector must lead the way. Responsible Care provides the foundation to reduce environmental footprints, enhance resource efficiency, and drive the transition to a circular economy. These challenges are opportunities to innovate and redefine the chemical industry’s role in society. Despite budget pressures, our commitment to Responsible Care must remain steadfast. This is a time when our resolve is tested, and through shared dedication, we will emerge stronger and more impactful.
We work closely with the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), aligning Asia-Pacific’s strengths with global initiatives such as the Responsible Care Global Charter and the Global Product Strategy. Through active engagement with the ICCA Responsible Care Leadership Group (RCLG), we ensure our region’s voice is heard and our achievements recognized globally. We are leaders shaping the future of Responsible Care. I believe this conference will become a catalyst for action. Through sessions and workshops, we will uncover solutions, share groundbreaking practices, and forge connections. I urge each of you to approach this event with passion and determination. Let us inspire one another and leave with a renewed sense of purpose. As we gather here in Indonesia, let us reaffirm our commitment to Responsible Care—not as an obligation, but as a principle guiding our actions and shaping our legacy. Every effort counts, every voice matters, and every step brings us closer to a sustainable future.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers, sponsors, speakers, and participants whose dedication has made this conference possible. Let us seize this moment and make the 2025 APRCC a milestone in our journey toward sustainability. Welcome to Indonesia! Let’s make this conference a resounding success!
Best regards,
Yoshizumi Sasaki
